Landen's Green Thumb

This summer Landen was so fascinated by plants. He plays games on the computer that ask for you to put the steps of planting in order...from putting the dirt in the pot to the flower growing. He loves it. So he asked me if he could grow a plant. Well, it was already July and I figured there wasn't much time left to plant. But we went to Walmart and they had 1 pack of Sunflower seeds in the whole store. We bought them and then got some potting soil and I bought us both gloves and a new little shovel.

We came home and planted those seeds along with some out of date ones that his Mawmaw had given him. 1 pack Aster and 1 pack Impatients. (I'll post pics of these in a seperate blog.) But to my surprise the sunflower grew and it was so pretty. I was good for oh about the first month or so about taking pics of it. And then I slacked off some but as you can see it grew into something simple but pretty. And Landen watered it almost every night. He even talked to it one time when it hadn't been watered in a couple of days and was looking pretty sick. He said "Little Plant, we're gonna give you some water to make you all better." I got teary..it was so sweet! :)

I was very proud of how good he was about reminding me that we needed to go out and get the watering can and water his plant.
