Brodie Is Here!!!

Thursday of last week I woke up feeling just AWFUl. And all day that day I had what I thought was labor pains. It was so bad that my mother-in-law ...and sis-in-law ( who just happened to be in town from VA.) came to stay with me to help out with Landen. The pain got more intense..so @ 1:30 I went to see my Dr. My contractions were reading only 2 to 3 mins. apart on their monitor, and I was 100% effaced, but only dilated 3. So he told me to go home and do some walking.... and that the baby would probably come the next day. But to go on to the hospital if the contractions got to be REALLY bad, (he told Stephen, "when she doesn't like you anymore it's time to go to the hospital"...lol)

We came home disappointed, but excited to know it was as close as the next day! I did not go walking... because earlier that day when I walked while having a contraction it would make me sick. So I came home and hit the recliner and watched "The FBI Files" all day...lol And tried not to get too anxious about a contraction being "The real thing. " But around 10:00 p.m. that night we headed for the hospital. I just had a fear of waiting too long. I was dilated 4 when we got there and it was a slow progression that went on thru the nite. They didn't want to help me along though, cause I was progressing well enough on my own. Around 5 or 6 a.m. Friday morning I was almost completely dilated but my water hadn't broke yet. And only the Dr. could do that. My Dr. was scheduled to come in sometime between 7 to 9a.m. He showed up in my room at 9:05 a.m. I was a little anxious to say the least. But after he broke my water things went fairly quick. Brodie made his grand entrance into the world at 12:49 p.m. Friday afternoon. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 3/4 in. long. The cord was around his neck, but the Dr. was very gentle with him and just helped him along a little with the vacuum...which left hardly any marks at all...(not like when I had Landen. His little head looked horrible.) And Stephen got to cut the cord this time. He was very excited and proud. :) And I was glad he got the chance to experience that. He was also a great coach for me and made me proud to have him there with me.

Stephen and I thank God for such a beautiful and healthy baby. And that we both came through it all okay. I did have to stay an extra day because of severe swelling in my legs and feet and even had to have an ultrasound done to check for blood clots in one leg because of some pain there, but it checked out fine!

I am thankful too for the wonderful staff @ Parkridge East. I wish now that I had gone there to have my Landen. They just went above and beyond. All of my nurses were very personable and just real people. The care there was not like any other hospital I've ever been to. And I was made to feel like I was the only patient in there. If God decides to allow us to have another child, we will definitely be going back there.
